GMO Field Monitoring
The spread of genetically modified (GM) crop plants is increasing on a global scale. However, concerns have been expressed over the possible effects of transgenic plants on the abundance and diversity of animals and plants. Accordingly, current EU legislation stipulates a monitoring plan for the continuous assessment of possible environmental effects in commercially grown GM crops.
Experts at RIFCON GmbH are experienced in investigating potential side-effects of GM crops on the epi- and endogeic fauna in comparison to their parent varieties. We are able to offer tailor-made field studies including study design, experimental set-up, sampling, extraction of endogeic microfauna and identification of epi- and endogeic arthropods, data evaluation and report compilation in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice.
